Open Charge Point Protocol, or OCPP

OCPP testing, coming soon

Coming soon

A charging station management system is a CSMS.

OCPP testing for your CSMS or charge point is planned. Explore the testing areas below.

Can I test OCPP here now?

No. OCPP testing is planned. ChargerDojo's live testing product is OCPI. The waitlist opens soon, and no launch date is announced.

Planned scope

Planned OCPP testing areas

These are the areas we plan to investigate. They are not available tests or a commitment to coverage.

Connection and recovery

Communication between a charge point and its management system, including interrupted connections.

Planned

Authorization

Permission to charge, including how the two systems handle an authorization decision.

Planned

Charging sessions and meter readings

Charging activity and the measurements a charge point reports to its management system.

Planned

Remote control and configuration

Requests to act on a charge point or change its settings, and the resulting response.

Planned

Smart charging

Instructions that control charging power, and how the charging system handles them.

Planned

Scope details remain unannounced. The J in OCPP 1.6J means JSON. OCPP 2.0.1 and 2.1 are later versions of the protocol. Read OCA's OCPP overview for protocol background.

Will you support OCPP 1.6J, 2.0.1 or 2.1?

OCPP 1.6J and 2.0.1 testing is planned, starting with CSMS testing. OCPP 2.1 is also planned, with preparation from the start. None is available here yet, and this plan does not promise versions, a launch date, certification or price.

Working OCPI evidence

Why ChargerDojo

You can inspect the testing product we ship today. This evidence is for OCPI; OCPP testing is still planned.

See how we test our checks

A mutant peer is a copy of a correct peer with a deliberate defect. We use these peers to show that OCPI checks can fail.

Two different connections

OCPP versus OCPI

What is the difference between OCPP and OCPI?

OCPP connects a charge point to its charging station management system. OCPI connects charging-service platforms for roaming. They address different parts of a charging integration, so testing one does not prove the other.
